Just like you take a
stretch break to unblock body tensions, you must do the same for
the mind. Use the downtime to clear the mind. And as a bonus, gradually
inject your dream of mental wealth into your consciousness. The more
downtime you gain, the more you will be living it up everyday! It
only requires ten minutes but it does require practice. Here’s
how:
Take time each day to sit in a quiet
place, preferably somewhere that you can place your head down (similar
to what kids do when they take a nap at their school desks).
As you try
to calm down, think of the things that you are grateful for.
Now gradually
focus your attention upon your breath as you quiet your mind.
Try to focus
on relaxing each part of your body.
Remain in
a mindless state for at least five minutes.
Now visualize
yourself living your ideal life. What would your day look like?
Who would be sharing this life with you? Who would not be sharing
this life with you?
As your mind
interrupts this process with other thoughts such as problems, things
you forgot to do, etc. acknowledge the new thought but then immediately
return to what you were visualizing.
Trust your
inner voice to express truths and wisdoms about how you feel about
this ideal life.
Practice this
for about 10 minutes each day using the same “visual” of
your ideal life.
After a few days of practicing this, you will be amazed at how
the mind will not forget your “happy” thought. Your
inner voice will likely start to “talk” louder to you
and point out ways that you can create the life that you want.
